The problem is in the fuel system, change the filter first, if that's not the cure change the fuel pump.

There are several reasons an engine may stall while driving, here are three.The fuel tank is empty and the engine is starved of fuel.Not enough power to climb a hill causing a stall.Faulty or damp electronics on a petrol engine can also cause a stall.
the lifters may need adjusting or replacing. your engine not getting enough oil causes the lifters to make noise. not sure what motor you have in it but if it's an engine where you can tighten the lifters then you can buy a tool for it if you know what your doing
