Low oil pressure on any vehicle is caused by either loose (wore out) bearings or not enough oil in the crankcase. If you have "spun" a bearing, this will cause it as well. If your vehicle has a lot of miles, you may consider going with a heavier weight of oil like 20W-50, or straight 40W during the warmer times of the year. If you have lots of miles on your vehicle and are running synthetic motor oil, this will definitely cause low oil pressure. Sythetic motor oil it VERY thin, and if your vehicle has many miles where the bearings are starting to become sloppy, the synthetic blends will not maintain oil pressures like conventional motor oils. If you don't have any major engine noises (knocking rods, or lifters tapping) consider switch to a conventional motor oil, especially if you have over 100,000 miles on the vehicle. This applies to any vehicle with high miles.
