Bilious fluid, or bile, in the stomach can come from several different causes. Bile is produced in the liver and stored in the gallbladder which releases it into the upper portion of the small intestine, called the duodenum, after eating. Bile in the stomach can be the result of an empty stomach, such as after a bout with vomiting, or can come from an overactive gallbladder. It can also indicate a weakened valve between the stomach and small intestine, which allows the bile to enter the stomach.

In my case, the cause is an over active gallbladder. The hypermotility of the gallbladder was found with a HIDA scan. I have symptoms of primarily nausea most of the day. In my case the recommendation is/was to see a surgeon for evaluation to remove the gallbadder. Two other GI doctors missed this.

What is is the relationship between chemical digestion and gastric fluid?

Chemical digestion is the process of breaking down large molecules into smaller ones for absorption. Gastric fluid, secreted by the cells in the stomach lining, contains enzymes such as pepsin that help break down proteins into amino acids. This fluid also contains hydrochloric acid, which aids in the digestion of food and kills harmful bacteria. Therefore, gastric fluid plays a crucial role in the chemical digestion of food in the stomach.
