Brake Pads and Rotors
What causes brakes to seize up after the pads and rotors have been changed?
The brake caliper or the sliding rail for the caliper may seize up. You should take out and lube the sliding rail on every brake job. This seem to be the most common problem. Try to relube and see if it will fix the problem.
How do you change rotors on a dodge neon?
Rotors are easy. I am assumong that you have disc brakes... so you have to remove the calipur and the rotor will slide straight at you. If it is seized then I always do the redneck thig by tapping the center with a hammer to break it free, and/or around the edges. When you are putting the new one on don't forget to use never seize on the inside of ithe rotor to prevent it from seixing up again. ...

Why would your brake rotors get red and hot enough that the car can't be moved?
Could be a defective master cylinder--Ford had this problem a few years ago when the brake fluid got warm and expanded (Normal) the master cylinder would not allow the expanded fluid to return the the resevior--causing brakes to drag and eventually seize until fluid cooled and relaxed the calipers The car was driven too long with the brakes on. Was the parking brake engaged while driving? Bad calipers can cause sticking too. The metals on the brakes have become so hot that...

State two advantages of disc brakes compared to drum brakes?
Disc brakes are not subject to "fade" which occurs when drum brakes overheat and lose the ability to stop, another advantage of disc brakes is that they tend to stop in a straight line unlike drum brakes which often "pull" to one side. Yet another advantage of disc brakes is that they self adjust by drawing brake fluid in behind the piston while it is common for the self adjusters in drum brakes to seize due to corrosion then the drum brakes...
When to change brake?
The brake pads only cost $12 and they are very easy to install, so the minute you hear a strange noise when you apply the brakes, you should change them to prevent damage to your rotors. You can also check the wear on your break pads to see how much padding is left. If they look thin, then change them. There are more signs to a brake problem. If you feel your brake pedal kinda go up and down (pulsating) your...

How do you fix squeling hydraulic disc brakes?
Change brand or composition of disc brake pads and resurface or replace brake rotors. Apart from the obvious worn pads, they will sometimes squeal if the anti-rattle shim is missing, between the back of the pad and the caliper piston. You could try anti-seize compound here (Copaslip). Check that the edge of the rotor has not got a build up of rust. ...
What would cause a 1999 Olds Intrigue to shake when applying the brakes when the rotors and pads were replaced and tires were balanced twice?
Since it happens when your braking, I would still believe that the brakes are the source. A shaking when braking almost always points to a brake rotor or brake drum that is out of shape. If the steering wheel wobbles during the shaking, it is from the front. Also, drive the car for 5-10 minutes, city driving, and then feel each rim to see if one is particularily hotter. (Expect both fronts to be hotter than rear ones)If it is the...
How do you get the rotors off to replace the front brake pads on a 2005 CR-V?
You don't need to take the rotors off to change the brake pads. If you need to replace the rotors or get them turned, here's how to get them off: 1) Make sure you remove the 2 small Philips head screws. 2) give the rotor a hard whack with a hammer, if this fails you will need 2 bolts, (6mm I believe). The rotors have threaded holes to insert bolts to force the rotors off the wheel hub, (this is a poor man's...
