Sounds like part of a heater hose. Sounds like part of a formed heater hose.
Your heater core is leaking you probably also noticed the heater may not be working as well.
fuse, wire, switch, resistor, fan motor, ground, etc.
Could be head gasket, head, or cracked block

I believe the flasher is up in, under the dash, to the right of the steering column. If it is, the best means to get to it is to remove the bezel for the radio and heater controls. At this point, depending upon exactly where it is, either the radio or heater control package must be slid out so you can reach the flasher. Not the most convenient place to put it.
Don't mess with Gas, if there is a fault with your gas heater, get it mended by a professional because a faulty gas fire can produce fumes that will kill you.
The heater core is inside the Hvac housing, under the dash.
