Eye twitching, or myokymia, is an involuntary eyelid muscle contraction that usually affects the lower eyelid. The exact cause of eye twitching is unknown. A twitch sometimes develops during times of increased stress. Eye twitching has also been associated with high caffeine intake, fatigue or excessive squinting. It can also occur after reading or working on a computer for prolonged periods of time.
Eye twitching is usually a sign that you need to take a break and relax. Sometimes a twitch will go away following a good night's sleep, but a stubborn twitch may last as long as three weeks.
If the twitching involves both eyes, there is a possibility that you have blephorospasm. This is a chronic condition that is more common in women over 50. Blephorospasm can progress into repeated forceful closing of the eyes. Again, there is no definite cause, but it may be worsened by stress, bright lights, watching too much TV, and fatigue.
To relieve eye twitching, try applying warm compresses to the twitching eye and gently massaging the eyelid with your fingers. For eyelid twitches that last longer than 2 or 3 days, over-the-counter oral or topical (eye drop) antihistamines may offer some relief. Although not a direct treatment, antihistamines slow down the muscle contractions, or twitching, making it less annoying.
A more violent eye twitching that involves an entire side of the face is called hemifacial spasm. A hemifacial spasm can be a much more severe twitch. It may actually affect speaking and eating. A hemifacial spasm is usually caused by inflamed facial nerves but it may result from a more serious neurological problem. This type of spasm is often treated with muscle-relaxing injections or medications. If you are concerned that you may have more than a common eyelid twitch, contact an eyecare professional for an evaluation.
There are many causes of eye twitching. Some people say it's stress, or that it's a vitamin deficiency. The truth is that it depends on your life so to know what is causing your eye twitching you need a full list of possible causes. Check out the related links for a page with a full list of possible causes.
Eye twitching or spasms related to the eye area are generally due to a lack of B12 which is found in Clams and Beef Liver. Other lesser sources are from chicken liver, lamb, tuna, egg, flounder. B12 is the main component for an efficient nervous system.
Other causes for eye twitching can be stress related, lack of sleep and sometimes but not commonly a lack in magnesium or potassium which is found in bananas.
Sometimes i'll be sitting in class, you know minding my own bussiness, then BAM I feel this irritating twitching coming from my right eye!.I think it's caused by you're eyelashes. So sometimes take you're finger and pull the loose ones off!! It worked for me :p
This is simply an involuntary muscle contraction caused by a number of possible things none of which are particularly serious. If your eye twitching is accompanied by other health problems you might have a neurological disorder and you see a doctor immediately. However, in most cases eyelid twitching isn't serious.
Check the link below for more information.
If it's an actual eye twitch (the eye moving) you need to see your eyecare professional immediately to determine the cause. If it's the eyelid twitching, it's just a muscle spasm. The most common causes of eyelid twitches are excessive caffeine consumption, lack of sleep, and stress.
When you eye twitches it means the nerve inside your eye is tired. This happens a lot when someone sits at the computer for more than 3 hours.
"It is believed that muscle spasms in the eyelid causes eye twitches. Because of this, it is believed that it is related to the nervous system. Most think that these muscle twitches can be related to emotional stress or physical eye strain. For example, staring at the computer all day can cause it to twitch. This type of eye twitch is not considered serious and is usually transitory."

Twitching of the eye, particularly the eyelid, is called eyelid myokymia. It represents fine fasciculations of the underlying muscles, without wasting or weakness. It is benign and self limiting. Triggers include sleep deprivation.
Eye twitches often occur when someone is over-tired or under stress. It can also be caused by very bright light, too much alcohol, or through smoking. More rarely it can be caused by a neurological disorder.
Eye twitching can happen for a lot of different reasons. A lot of times, it's just a result of stress or general tiredness.
lack of megnesium is one of the factor.
idk go c a doctor =D lol.
There is no psychological meaning for it unless like every single time you tell a lie your eye twitches unless you have that kind of proof. Generally it means your having a muscle spasm and you need more potassium.
This is the first indication that you have Optimotorflapper syndrome. If this is allowed to infect the buttock area your life expectancy will be reduced to approximately 70 human years. My prayers are with you.
The most common reason is stress, too much reading or lack of proper sleep. If it is only occurring in one eyelid and for short periods of time there is really nothing you can do but try and decrease your stress level. If you are having consistent spasms in or around both eyelids that are constant, you might make an appointment with an Ophthalmologist to rule out some type of nerve problem, like bilateral hemifacial spasms.
