One cause I am familiar with is the fuel filter.
Since this van is fuel injected the fuel pump is in the tank but fuel must pass through the fuel filter.
It is mounted on the frame. I believe on the right (passenger) of the vehicle.
It is a pressurized device, so be careful.
I have a 1991 Dodge Ram 250 Conversion Van and it was loosing power especially when I 'floored' it. A mechanic friend (Ford) recommended I change the fuel filter.
I did and 'walla' the van went back to having lot'sa power.

bad coil pack on cylinders, find or pull ignition wires and you can tell by no loss of power.
Gravity! We fight that loss of power by using more torque.
I would start with your battery.
clogged cat
Check the catlytic converter for blockage
A bad vehicle ground wire can cause intermittent loss of power to your 1998 Nissan. Check the vehicle ground wire to make sure it is tight and free of corrosion.
Reactance certainly causes loss in a transmission system, but I^2R or resistance losses are greater.
Check power steering fluid first, then take it to the shop if it is full.
Probably the increased load on the engine caused by the power steering pump.
There are several causes that can cause a generator turbine system to lose power. The most common cause is a lack of fuel.
