most people think that on the cls mercedes the Power Steering is making the noise when in fact it is from the transmission pump
the sound is identical to the power steering pump
if you put the car on the lift and listen you will hear it better\
also if the pitch does not change when turning thw wheel you know it is not the p.s. pump
