There is a problem with the anti-lock brake system. If your ABS activates it will turn the light on. It will go off again once ABS deactivates. You need to understand how ABS works though. It pulses your breaks many times every second when you are trying to stop your vehicle in limited traction like snow or water and also under emergency breaking. This keeps your wheels turning enough that you are able to steer the vehicle while breaking rather than just skidding to wherever the weight of your vehicle takes you when you wheels "lock". Locking the wheels simply means that your brakes have stopped your wheels from turning at all which makes it almost impossible to stear. ABS is designed to keep your wheels from locking.
