What causes the air conditioning and heat to only come out of your defrost vents on your 2002 Jeep Wrangler even if you have the selector switch turned to the other settings?

these are typically controlled by vacuum actuators. Either a vacuum hose has sprung a leak or fallen off behind the dash, or the vacuum actuator has spung a leak. Also, there is a controller unit that directs the vacuum to the appropriate actuator. These can leak, fail, etc. (listen for odd hissing noises) If you want to fix it yourself, the best money you can spend is on the Factory Service manual for your vehicle. These are typically around $70-80USD (less on ebay).
