This is likely not a belt squeak, but rather the idler pulley. In the belt routing area, there will be a pulley (either metal or plastic that the belt goes around which is not connected to any or device. Inside that pulley is a small bearing (about the size of a silver dollar. When the permanent lubed grease finally gives up, it will start to squeak or squeal depending on how bad it is. To test this, find this pulley and spray some WD-40 or similar lube into the area while running -WATCH FINGERS- !! If the squeak goes away temporarily, then this is likely the problem. You can also undo the serpentine belt and turn this pulley with your fingers - it will likely be rough or hard to turn.
The harpsichord was replaced by the piano.
stopped
This happened to me as well. Don't forget to re-charge the battery as well. Since the belt broke you probably can assume that the alternator stopped charging the battery at least for a moment.
it stopped about 2-3 hours after it started.
Sounds like either a loose or worn belt. Tighten/replace as needed. In another light... I had the same issue with squealing after I started. This continued for a bit after I accelerated and would be quiet eventually, until I stopped again or upon next startup. A dealership service shop and my local mechanic said the same thing. "The problem is the Tensioner (belt is on this and sometimes belt may need replaced also)". The Tensioner itself was inexpensive, but the labor to do the job was more than double, no matter where I received the estimates.
"Stop" or "finish".
