the servo that is activated when u press the brake might be bad or it could be a blown fuse or a broken wire
It is possible that the selector lock is not disengaging when you step on the brake. Without more information, specifically the year of your car, I cannot answer specifically. My 2007 Outback has a small round plug to the left of the shifter. You use a screwdriver and pry that plug out. Then you insert the screwdriver in the hole and press down. This will release the selector lock. On other years you may have to remove the entire cover around the selector to gain access to the release. Your owner's manual has details on how to perform this procedure.
there is a slot in front of the shifter, insert the and it will release, it is just a button
Next to the shifter above the park symbol. You can pop off the cover with a screw driver, then insert an object into the hole to release the lock.
Insert key. Turn to ACC. Push brake. Push button on shifter. Move shifter out of park. It helps if park lock cable is not broken, and if vehicle is not on an incline.
there should be a plastic cap that's square right above the shifter, pop that off and insert a key and push down. The shifter should be unlocked and you can shift it.
This GMC I believe that it have a release cable under the dash. Where the brake pedal attach with it. Every time you insert the key in ignition and turn over, you still have to press the brake pedal that help release the cable to free the shifter. The cable the run from brake pedal to shifter could be about foot long or 3 feet long. It depend on the kind of shifter your car have. When the brake is press, it pull the cable to release the locking device on the shifter so you can shift it. If it does not release, check the cable on the brake pedal and the shifter for damage or defect. If it still good, check the primary cable that runs from ignition switch to brake pedal that help release the secondary cable which I explained above. More likely, you may need a whole steering column. Does it help? Would you please be kind for a tips. Hill's Towing Company Please write to: Anthony Hill 730 Kelton Ave. Cols.OH 43205 Anthony(Owner)
right click on the table and select one of the options :D
This is to prevent the car from going into gear when it is not meant to. You must have the key in the on position before you can move the vehicle out of park.
If it is stuck in park it is most likely the brake lock switch on most cars there's a cable and switch at the shifter from the brake pedal when you push on the brake pedal the switch pulls out and unlocks the shifter so you can shift the car out of park. Some cars have a little slot by the shifter where you can insert a key to unlock the shifter.
first thing, check your brake lamps,if the lower brake lamps do not work the car will not come out of park because of a safety feature that requires you to press the brake pedal to shift out of park. the stop lamps provide the power to release the shifter,if this is the case you just need to fix your brak lamps, most vehicle have a featue to enable you to release shifter in emergencies.try turning the key to unlock without turning the dash lamps on then shift to nuetral and start the vehicle,if this doesnt work there should be a plugged off slot by the shifter that you can insert a key to release it
There is a clip in the front of the shifter handle, put the shifter in first gear and you can see it. pull it out with a regular screw driver. pull the shifter knob off, the the Gear select insert does come out. there are four bolts under that, then there are two inside the center compartment also, then the whole works will come out.
IT COULD BE A FUSE,IF ITS AUTOMATIC YOU CAN PUT YOUR KEY IN WERE THE SHIFTER IS THERE IS A KEY SLOT THERE INSERT THE KEY PUT THE CAR IN NEUTRO AND START IT UP IF IT DOES TURN ON LIKE THAT IT IS ONLY A FUSE ITS LOCATED IN THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT WERE YOUR FUSE BOX IS,IM NOT SURE WICH ONE IT IS BUT CHECK IF THEREIS ONE THATS BLOWN OUT THIS COULD BE THE POBLEM ITS HAPPENED TO ME A FEW TWICE AND THATS WHAT IT WAS AND THATS HOW I GOT MY CAR TO START Answer:Hondas also have a solenoid that keeps the shift selector from being moved unless the brake pedal is depressed. Check this solenoid, it's located inside the console, attached to the shifter.
