Not enough oil pressure and / or the oil channel is plugged
the lifters may need adjusting or replacing. your engine not getting enough oil causes the lifters to make noise. not sure what motor you have in it but if it's an engine where you can tighten the lifters then you can buy a tool for it if you know what your doing
sounds like your oil is wrong viscocity and causes the hydraulic lifters to tap until oil thins enuff to work the lifters. if changing oil doesnt help you have a worn lifter
The ticking sound is coming from the valve lifters. When the oil filter is changed, air is introduced into the system, which causes air bubbles to form in the oil. This causes the valve lifters to "leak down", which is what causes the ticking sound. It can take several days for the bubbles to dissipate. It's annoying, but harmless.
Lack of oil lubrication to lifters
lifters are normally quiet in operation check oil level if fine check oil pressure if ok could be wear on cam and lifters if so replace
Insufficient oil or problem with pump.
The ticking noises is the lifters slamming into the valves. They are not receiving the amount of oil they require to lubricate properly. Either the oil level is very low or something else is seriously wrong. Continuing to run the engine like this will lead to very early engine failure.
your lifters are bad at least 1 of them or on a more serious note no oil in engine bad oil pump bad oil sending unit bent push rod blown engine
Fuel injectors don't tap. You are hearing the hydraulic valve lifters which are full of oil when functioning properly. Without sufficient oil they will make a tapping sound. If the car has sat for along time they will sometimes tap for a few seconds when you first crank it up. If yours valve lifters are tapping intermediately I would suggest checking your oil level and if that is OK you may have an oil pump going bad. If that should be the case do not drive the car as the motor will not get sufficient oil and will burn the bearings and kill the motor.

In a word, neglect. Not changing the oil as recommended by the manufacture. The lifters are dirty and this causes them to stick. My advise is to add 1.5 ounces of Seafoam Motor Treatment per quart of oil in the crankcase. Lets say your engine holds 4.5 quarts of oil, then add 7 ounces of Seafoam to the crankcase and then drive the vehicle around 50 miles and change the oil/filter. The Seafoam will dissolve the varnish buildup and free the lifters. If one treatment does not work then do it again and then drive 100 miles before changing the oil/filter.
That's not necessary. Either side will drain into the oil pan where the oil pump will circulate it through the lifters, which is how the treatment will actually treat the lifters.
