Most odometers are connected to the transmission, the cable may have worked free on the trans or behind the dash.

Its could be a bad fuse. Try replacing the fuse first before moving onto more expensive fixes.

Why would the odometer on a 1994 Honda Accord fail intermittently and how do you fix it?

If the odometer also quits, the problem is probably the speed sensor or wiring to it. If the odometer keeps turning when the spedo quits, it is in the spedo itself and needs to go to the speedo shop.

In a 1990 the speedometer is electronic, but the odometer is gear driven. These gears fail frequently. I would suggest visiting the IPD website. They have the gear along with an instructional DVD to help the process.
