did you check the kick down cable connected to your transmition to your carb or fuel injection unit? the main purpose of the kick down cable is it tells the transmition to shift when you accelerate the car.i had the same problem to my Ford Taurus. don't try to do it yourself! take it to the shop! See if that's the problem.

A Ford Taurus transmission holds between 10 and 12 quarts of fluid depending on the model. Additional fluid is stored within the torque converter which is not drained during a fluid change.

Your transmission is breaking down inside. ether watch for it. or extensive transmission is required.

The simplest case: you need to add/change transmission fluid. The hardest case: you have to change transmission.

I had this exact problem on my 1996 Taurus. The solution in my case was to replace the transmission range sensor. I replaced it myself. It was easy to change. I can't say if that is what is wrong with your Taurus, but it was what was wrong with mine. Good Luck! This was also the problem with my '96 Taurus... part was also refferd to a Nuetral Safty Switch"

You have not given enough information for a reliable answer. In these circumstances the best thing you can do is take the car to a reliable transmission shop.

They are not. Gemini likes constant change, and Taurus hates change. Gemini is just too full of energy for calm Taurus to handle.

you may have a transmission problem. See the axles will break to save the transmission from damage. Or you might need to change the bushings on the suspension.

Delayed shifting is because the transmission fluid is not warm enough to move through the internals of the transmission. You may need a transmission service,,,,,fluid change, new filter, etc. Transmission Fluid degrades with age.

User Avatar

I would suspect a clogged transmission filter. Have the transmission fluid changed and the filter replaced. See where you stand after this service. Do not have the transmission flushed. But also make sure they change all the fluid and not just what is in the pan.

User Avatar

It needs a transmission oil and filter change or a transmission additive to make the gears not stick so it shifts easier. Or could need both if its an older transmission. You can buy the additive at Walmart or any auto parts store.
