King Henry VIII changed the church from being catholic in England to being protestant, because he wanted a divorce which the catholic church wouldn't give him but the protestant church would. This was because he wanted a son and his wife was too old to bear him children.

Henry the VIII started the Church of England, he went to war with France, he united England.

Henry started the Church of England? The Church of England started in the 7th Century, when the Celtic Church took upon itself an new diocesan /parish organisation!

It became known as the Ecclesia Anglicana ,either the Church of the English, or the Church in England.

He cleared out the monasteries, gave the monks and nuns pensions and made a lot of the gentry rich. The Church was mentioned in the 8th Cent, History of England and at the time of the Magna Carta so much for him starting it?.

One thing he did do was come down on the side of the eastern church in their argument with rome.
