How did Jesus know that peter would deny him?
It is quite interesting how Peter was reminded of this, and why he wept when he remembered. In part, the sound of the cock crowing reminded Peter of his guilt, but there is a more complete answer that was intended to be understood by the early Christians.The story of Peter's denials first appeared in Mark's Gospels, which incorporates a framework structure that highlights this event. In event T (Mark 8:29), Jesus asks who Peter thinks he is, and Peter affirms he is the Christ. Then in event U, Jesus tells Peter, "Whosoever therefore shall be ashamed of me and of my words in this adulterous and sinful generation; of him also shall the Son of man be ashamed, when he cometh in the glory of his Father with the holy angels."
