Acts 2:1-7 And when the days of the Pentecost were accomplished, they were all together in one place: And suddenly there came a sound from heaven, as of a mighty wind coming: and it filled the whole house where they were sitting. And there appeared to them parted tongues, as it were of fire: and it sat upon every one of them. And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost: and they began to speak with divers tongues, according as the Holy Ghost gave them to speak. Now there were dwelling at Jerusalem, Jews, devout men, out of every nation under heaven. And when this was noised abroad, the multitude came together, and were confounded in mind, because that every man heard them speak in his own tongue. And they were all amazed, and wondered, saying: Behold, are not all these that speak Galilean?
Jesus said he would leave the Holy Spirit with the disciples to guide and empower them to continue his work after he ascended to heaven.
The Holy Spirit came with power upon the disciples 10 days after the ascension on the Day of Pentecost.
Pentecost, which literally means 50 or it is 50 days after the Passover and First Fruits. Jesus returned to visit his Disciples after his resurection and promised to wait for the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit did not come then. Jesus disappeared in a cloud. The Holy Spirit came upon the disciples 50 days later when they were praying together in Jerusalem.
Holy Spirit to come upon them on the day of Pentecost.
Say 'I invite the holy spirit in' and the holy spirit will come in
There are several Bible verses that appear to demonstrate that the Holy Spirit is NOT everywhere. In Mark 1:10, Jesus saw the heavens open and the Spirit descend like a dove. Here the Holy Spirit was in heaven and came physically down to Jesus, in the likeness of a dove. In John 20:22, the risen Jesus breathed on the disciples, saying, "Receive ye the Holy Ghost." The Holy Ghost was not everywhere, but had to come from Jesus. In Acts 2:3-4, the Holy Ghost came like tongues of fire and settled on the disciples. Again, the disciples could not receive the Holy Spirit until it descended on them in the likeness of flames.
The priest will show the sign that the Holy Spirit will appear. This sacred rite show that the power of the Holy Spirit will come through the cleansing water that symbolize the Holy Spirit.
Not much, the Disciples probably would have kept hiding in fear and the world would have probably ended up forgetting about Jesus of Nazareth
Thank you, come again
he waited with the other disiples for the Holy Spirit to come.
'Come Holy Ghost.'
They probably had a good idea when they started speaking and the foreign people who were assembled heard them in their native tongue. They were speaking languages they had never learned to tell the good news about the Son of God. The result of that was thousands being baptized. They were humble and attributed that progress to the holy spirit, not to themselves.
