The major cities of South Australia are Adelaide (capital city), Port Pirie, Port Augusta, Port Lincoln, Whyalla and Mount Gambier. Sydney - New South Wales
Melbourne - Victoria
Brisbane - Queensland
Perth - Western Australia
Adelaide - South Australia
Hobart - Tasmania
Darwin - Northern Territory
The government building is in Canberra, although most people would think of Sydney and Melbourne as more "important" cities as they have a higher population.
For other important cities go to Google Maps. Zoom out enough that most of the city names disappear, and the ones that are left can be generally considered the most "important".
