It was built on a small island in Lake Texcoco when a few nomads saw an eagle on a cactus with a snake in its mouth, which meant they were supposed to live there. The eagle on a cactus with a snake in its mouth is on the Mexican flag, and Tenochtitlan is now Mexico City, the capital of Mexico.
