I'm not an expert in the area, but I can tell you a few of the majors that my friends and their friends went into...
- Music Theater
- Vocal Performance
- Music Education
- Bachelor of Music
- Choral Direction
- Religious Services/Church Music Management/Directing (major name varies from college to religious, and faith to faith)
- Composition
- Art (generally many kids who major in "Art" will branch off into specific areas, including music/vocal performance)
I would recommend contacting a local college's music department and asking someone in admissions. Give them as many details as you can, what you think you want to do in college, what are your career goals, the types of music you love singing, and where you are in your current singing (be honest, don't tell them you're the a pro and better than Diana Ross, if you're really more like an American Idol contestant and still need some training). They'll be able to give you the best advice on how to go about applying for schools, and may be able to steer you towards the schools best suited to helping you meet your goals.
