Usually items can be cleaned in two ways: chemically or with scrubbing. To avoid scratching the glass, try a chemical.
Look for a product that specifically states it will remove calcium, rust, lime, and other mineral deposits. Two products I have used that have worked very well are The Works and CLR. The Works was the most effective by far, but it does have a very strong odor that has to be vented while cleaning.
This is a great idea for tile in your house. Theses days glass tiles are being used for Swimming Pools and water features. Cleaning calcium build up from these surfaces needs more than scrubbing. Pool tile build up averages about two years were bathroom tile is maybe a week. Needs less to say, pool tile needs a more aggressive method for removing calcium build up. My company, Arizona Bead Blasting secializes in removing calcium build up from pool tile, pebble tech and more. FYI Glass bead should never be used on glass tile. It will ruin the surface. Here is the mineral of choice.
Kieserite -Naturally mined mineral salt:
Calcium. This is a serious problem in the southwestern states (AZ, CA, NV). Calcium will leave a white ring around the pool tile. If left to build up, it will require hiring a pool tile cleaning company to remove it. There are 2 primary methods of removing the calcium: blasting with glass beads or blasting with magnesium sulfate.
Calcium sulfate, CaSO4, is a naturally occurring calcium salt. It is commonly known in its dihydrate form, CaSO4∙2H2O, a white or colourless powder called gypsum. As uncalcined gypsum, the sulfate is employed as a soil corrector. Calcined gypsum is used in making tile, wallboard, lath, and various plasters.
well it depends what is the tile made of is it granite ? what type of tile ?
The pH level of tile cleaners will vary depending on the cleaner. Before using a tile cleaner always check that the pH level is suitable for the type of tile you will be cleaning.
Unfortunately, nail polish remover is mainly a solvent- acetone. Depending on the type of tile, it Is possible that nail polish remover has dissolved part of the tile. This cannot be undone, and that tile would have to be replaced.
the Glaze on Ceramic tile is mostly Glass, but Glass is presumably ALL glass. They should both be HIGHLY resistant to Calcium deposits and very robust in their ability to stand up to cleaning Glass may have the slight edge due to its smoother finish over Tile Glaze Neither tile, especially the glass ones should be cleaned with glass beads.
Yes. This is done quite frequently in cleaning calcium deposits from pool tile.
Improper water chemistry & neglect. It depends upon how severe the deposits are. The best way to remove calcium from your pool tile is, to sand blast it off with glass bead. Surface Renewal does this. (949)269-3122

Since it is my job to clean off the hard water stains and calcium deposits from pool tile, I'll answer from that perspective. Grout lines are the most difficult part to clean. Since larger tiles have fewer grout lines they are usually easier to clean. My personal preference though is 1" irridescent glass tiles covering the entire pool, for the elegant look.
Glass bead is the best media when cleaning swimming pool tile. Glass beads are environmentally friendly and will not damage your swimming pool tile during the cleaning process. The beads are manufactured from silica- and lead-free glass and are round in shape. Because of their spherical shape, the beads are able to hit the tile surface without scratching or damaging it. Glass beads provide the best pool tile cleaning results. They are more effective and safer than harsh chemicals, and will save you time and money over pumice stones.

Try lemon juice
You don't. The color is in usually in the glass.
If you have hard water, it reduces the residue on the tile and glass. The tile and glass will look better longer.
Tile and glass technically does not "sweat", however... When the dew point of the air is higher than the temperature of the tile (or glass or other surface) moisture in the air will "condense" on the cool surface. Many people misunderstand that process and believe that the tile (or glass) is sweating.
