Example UK telephone number: +44 1234 123456
Be sure to check what time it is where you are calling before placing your call.
1. The international access code from within the United States is 011. Do not dial the 1 that you would typically dial when placing a long-distance call within the United States. If you are on a phone that requires you to dial 9 for an outside line, you will still need to start with a 9.
2. Dial the country code which will be 1 to 3 digits depending on the country. In this example, the country code is 44 for the UK.
3. If a single 0 is shown between the country code and additional sets of numbers, do not dial the 0.
4. Dial the remainder of the phone number 1234 123456. The first part is the city code, which acts similarly to the United States area code. The last part is the local phone number.
For the number in the question, to place the call, dial 011 + 44 + 1234 + 123456. If the UK phone number is say 020 7123 4567, then from the US it is dialled as 011 44 20 7123 4567. If I remember right, you first dial the 'Exit Code' which is 011, and then the UK Country Code: 44, and then City, and so forth.... so its just that easy =) From your US landline based phone, type into the keypad:
011 44 and then the area code and phone number... British mobile numbers always start with a "7," so the string of digits should go:
011 44 7xxx xxxxxx
Troubleshooting tip:
If you are typing:
011 44 0 7xxx xxxxxx you are dialing incorrectly and it will not go through. Remove the zero to make it work.
All the Best,
Dee

Oh, and watch out for the fees, international phone calls can be super expensive... Check with your local phone carrier to see if they have an international calling plan you could attach to your line, it will probably make things way cheaper for you.
