It's purple the colour can change slightly.
isn't that just great purple it's my favourite colour ya know
With water, which is a neutral, litmus paper does not change. However, neutrals turn green in Ph paper and universal indicator.
Phenolpthalein will show no colour when it is in a neutral solution at room temperature.
It might change to either, or not at all. Water is amphiprotic so it can act as an acid or a base. Also litmus paper is ineffective between pHs of 5.5-8.
In a neutral solution litmus paper is purple.
The unused litmus paper is purple.
Red
The colors of litmus is different; this depends on the pH.
Litmus paper detects alkaline conditions (presence of OH- ion). When dry, ammonia has no hydroxide ions. It needs to be mixed with water, where, in equilibrium, NH4+ and OH- ions are formed. If you wet the litmus paper, the dry NH3 gas will register as basic.
litmus paper is an indicator which contains a chemical. this chemical breaks down when t comes into contact with an acid or alkali. this results in a color change.. the regular litmus which is usually 2 colors change accordingly: red litmus + acid = blue litmus blue litmus + alkali = red litmus note: using moist litmus paper ensures more accurate results : ) hope this info was useful : ) <3 melody : )
wel, i hav performed this experiment and actually used blue and pink litmus papers. blue litmus turned pink and pink remained pink when subjected to vapors emerging from the mouth of the test tube being heated. i hope this helps...
bule
THE COLOUR of the litmus paper will not change as a salt solution is neutral

Purple litmus (neutral) become red in acidic solutions.
Litmus is red at a pH under 4,5.
The natural color for litmus paper is blue. When put in an acidic solution the blue paper turns red. Red litmus paper is first mixed with an acid when it is made. This causes the paper to appear red. When put in the presence of a base, the paper returns to its natural blue color.
blue
baking powder will not show any colour change in litmus soltion because water is absent but wen it is mixed wid water and then subjected to the litmus solution, the red litmus wud change to blue.
it does not make neutral colors :D
Red
It more of a neutralized yellow, depends on more on the shade. Yellow is a pure warm color. The more of a neutral color is mixed with yellow the duller it becomes.
