There is one carbon atom in each of the many compounds having a single 'C' in their formulae, such as carbon monoxide (CO), carbon dioxide (CO2), carbonic acid (H2CO3), and the carboxl acids (COOH).

The question itself is based on a false assumption. One atom cannot have three other atoms as part of it. When you mention "1 carbon and 3 hydrogen" that's 4 atoms altogether. If it could exist, it would be a molecule. But it can't exist because the valency of carbon is 4, so the molecule would have to be CH4 (methane).

What kinds of atom makes up for nitrogen and carbon dioxide?

Chemical formula for nitrogen dioxide: NO2.Chemical formula for carbon dioxide: CO2.Thus, nitrogen dioxide consists of two oxygen atoms and one nitrogen atom, carbon dioxide consists of one carbon atom and two oxygen atoms.

What is carbon dioxide's number of atoms?

Three; each molecule of carbon dioxide consists of one carbon atom combined with two oxygen atoms.

Does one molecule of water contain one atom of hydrogen and one atom of oxygen?

No; water is H20 and therefore consists of one carbon and two hydrogen atoms.

What makes carbon monoxide?

Carbon Monoxide is a poisonous, tasteless, invisible, odorless gas, also known as the "silent killer." This gas is slightly lighter than air, and consists of one carbon atom and one oxygen atom, connected by a triple bond that consists of two covalent bonds as well as one dative convalent bond. It's the simplest oxocarbon. In coordination complexes the carbon monoxide ligand is called carbonyl.-Diondre McClam:)carbon monoxide is made up of carbon and oxygen (CO).

Is carbon monoxide an atom?

Yes. One carbon atom is bonded to one oxygen atom by two covalent bonds and one coordinate covalent/dative bond, to form a complete molecule.

Is carbon dioxide molecule made of one carbon atom and one oxygen atom?

No. One carbon dioxide molecule is made up of one carbon atom and two oxygen atoms.

Why carbon monoxide is or is not an atom?

Carbon monoxide is a molecule consisting of one oxygen atom and one carbon atom.

Is carbon monoxide an atom an element and a pure substance?

Carbon monoxide is a molecular compound made up of one carbon atom and one oxygen atom. It is not an element because it is composed of different types of atoms. However, it can be considered a pure substance because it consists of only carbon and oxygen atoms combined in a fixed ratio.

How many atoms of carbon react with a molecule of oxygen to form a molecule of carbon monoxide?

there is one atom of oxygen in Carbon monoxide (CO) i.e. half molecule of oxygen.

What occurs during During The Dark Reactions Of Photosynthesis?

Hydrogen atoms released from water are added to carbon dioxide molecules so that carbon oxygen bonds are broken and carbon atoms can join together. Carbon dioxide consists of a carbon atom attached to two oxygen atoms. That way, a carbon atom joins two other carbon atoms. One of the hydrogen atoms joins the carbon atom and one of the hydrogen atoms joins with the oxygen atom. You end up with the carbon atom attached to four different atoms.

Is carbon dioxide made of carbon an oxygen?

Correct. Carbon Dioxide is made of one carbon atom and two oxygen atom (CO2).

Is there more than one atom in carbon monoxide?

Yes. carbon monoxide is CO and has one carbon atom and one oxygen atom.
