how do i diagnose a heat problem in a 1999 audi quatro
Recommended coolant/ antifreeze for vw, audi, skoda, seat is G12. Very good coolant, helps, lubricates an works as a anti-corrosive serum.
Important!!! Use only G12 coolant for any Volkswagen or Audi. DO NOT MIX FACTORY COOLANT WITH ANY OTHER BRAND Dealers will have it for approx 20-30 dollars per gallon. Pentosin produces the coolant for Volkswagen, Audi and BMW.
Most likely it is the headgasket being blown. Check the coolant level. If there is oil in the coolant and water in the oil there is your clue.
Under the plastic engine cover midway along the rail carrying coolant - opened with Allan key
G12- the red stuff-ONLY! Look at the tank- it is labeled.
A good quality antifreeze mixed 50/50 with water
If It is the temp. sensor and not the thermosat I believe it is the bottom of the coolant tank. I thimk you have to buy a new tank.
It goes in the top left tank reservoir. And BTW Audi recommends using G12 coolant, i wouldn't use that green stuff either.
beetween the trhotle and air filter housing
I hope you like the smell of warm coolant in your car. Also, prepare yourself for a nice footbath of warm coolant.
On an Audi A4, the power steering fluid reservoir is located in front of the coolant tank. It appears as a square-shaped black container with a green cap.
