You can spend more on an engine, but both can be expensive. There is no way to guess which is going to cost more. Some engine repairs can be as little as $100 and some transmission repairs can be $3,000 and the reverse is true.

Should you drive with a cracked motor?

Technically is possible. Of course if you intend to repair it - the more you drive it (if it will start) the more you destroy the engine.

How much does t cost to fix a blown engine rod?

Assuming you are talking about a connecting rod, this condition is serious. More than likely there was extensive damage done to enternal engine parts encluding the engine block. I don't know what year and model vehicle you have but I would consider a total engine replacement with a new, rebuilt or good used engine rather than attempting to repair the original engine. I can't give you an aprox price without more information.

How do you fix a crack in the block?

The repair is most likely more money than the car is worth, you need a new engine block.

At what point is it no longer worth paying for car repairs?

When the repair will cost more than the value of the car. or over your budget ************** Well, ... it depends on1. what other alternatives you have (rent-a-car, buy new car, other?) and what is the cost of each of them2. what is the value of the car (after repair) if you sell it 3. what is the expected cost of repairs in the future (with other words, how close is your car to the end of the expected life-cycle)4. what is the cost of the repair itself If, for example, the repair costs 5000 euro, and you can rent a car for four or perhaps five years, with 5000 euro, then it is possible that the repair is not worth this money. If, for example, the repair costs 5000 euro, but after repair you can hardly sell the car for 8000, then it more likely that it is not worth it, UNLESS the car worths much less than 3000 euro before the repair If. for example, the repair costs only 1000 euro, but you are sure that in the near future, the car will need a repair of 4000-5000 euro, then it is same as the above examples. The subject of whether a repair worths its money, is covered by a variety of mathematical models of maintenance and reliability theory.

Is auto transmission repair worth it?

Whether it's worth the cost is subjective and based on how much a new car will cost. However, the price of one or more thousand dollars for transmission repair means that it might well be possible that it'd be a better deal to just buy a new car.

Are Isuzu diesel engines expensive to repair?

Yes just about everything to do on a diesel engine is usually more expensive than that of a regular car engine. This is due to the higher price of diesel engine parts and labor cost to repair.

The High Price of Transmission Repair?

Transmission repair is an inevitable occurrence in any car that is driven for several years. The transmission doesn’t usually need any repair work until the car has been driven for at least 100,000 miles. When the transmission is broken, however, it can be a time consuming and expensive problem. How to Know When There is a Problem In a car with manual transmission, the clutch and gear shifting mechanism are the main parts of the transmission. Automatic transmissions do all of the gear shifting for you. You can tell when there is a problem with the transmission because the car will begin to rev in unusual patterns. Sometimes the transmission will slip, which means it won’t shift between gears at the proper times. If your car engine begins to behave in unusual patterns, you should have it looked at by a mechanic. Why Transmissions are so Expensive to Fix The high cost of transmission repair stems from the fact that the transmission is such a large and integral part of your car’s engine. A replacement transmission alone can cost thousands of dollars. The replacement process requires several hours of labor because the transmission has to be disconnected from the many parts of the car that it directly impacts. The main reasons transmission repair is expensive are because the part is expensive and labor costs go up due to the amount of time the repair work takes. Choosing Between a New Transmission and a New Car In some cases it may be more practical to replace your car than to replace your transmission. If you drive a car that is 20 years old, you may find that the transmission replacement is more expensive than the car is worth. Since transmission repair generally takes place on older vehicles, most people who suffer from transmission problems are faced with replacing their car. Talk to your mechanic about getting a cost estimate for the repair work before he begins replacing your transmission so that you will know the best choice to make financially. If you choose to replace your car, the mechanic may be able to help you find a way to sell your old car.

How much should a transmission fluid and filter cost?

The cost of transmission fluid and filter will depend on the make of the car. It will also depend on the labor costs if a person has it done at an automobile repair shop. The fluid is about $5 a quart and the filter with the gasket might cost between $15 and $45. Many vehicles take about 10 quarts or more of transmission fluid.
