I had a lump that sounds similar to the one you described in front of my right ear. It was just a swollen lymph node. My general practitioner was able to remove it without any problems.
AnswerI have a small lump right in front of my tragus, sounds similar to what you are describing. I have just gotten over a cold so it would make sense if it was a swolen lymph node, but have read several things on the internet that warn about tumors in that position etc so now I'm scared! if it IS a lymph node is it advised to have it removed or can you leave it?Wiki User

∙ 18y agoA spider bite thatt probably happened when you were sleeping, its probably semi hard and will move with your skin, spider bites commonly happen on the head because the Spiders are not atoned the hair, and will often react with vigor

∙ 15y agoMost likely it's TMJ, which affects where your jaw meets your each side of your skull in front of your ears. If you have headaches, facial pains, or discomfort chewing, TMJ is most likely the case.
It could also be a cyst, which is the result of an ingrown hair. They are quite common around the neck. Sometimes cysts can be rather painful, and that is usually when people see a doctor. If it is causing you massive amounts of pain they can easily lance it off for you. Otherwise, there is nothing really serious to worry about.
Another possibility is that it could be some sort of tumor, but that is probably unlikely considering you said it was hard.
