What could be wrong if a 1985 Audi 4000s turns over but will not start and the oxygen sensor light was on prior to noise and rough engine running?

I had that problem on the freeway outside of Boise in my '85 4000s. Turned out it was the distributor, which had shattered on the inside. Other than that, I'd check the EFG valve.

I cant say for sure for your vehicle, but in my 1985 4000s quattro, the fuses are under the hood... drivers side... in the noook just under the windshield. the fusebox has a black cover over it too. good luck!

'86 Audi 4000S CD Player installationI just did the research on installing a CD player in an '86 Audi 4000 S. It is not an easy task since the original audio equipment was made specifically for this vehicle. It may require removal of the dash to allow room to add a wiring harness to fit the new equipment. Bose systems... require changing out the whole system (head unit, speakers, amps and subs) but do not require removing the dash.
Should an automatic 2000 vw jetta vr6 only shift up to third gear?
I have this identical car, and it is a 4 speed automatic. I've put a few hundred into modifications but I still remember the gearing it had. You can get it into 4th gear, but you'll need to bring it up to about 160KPH . If you have ever tried out the manual gearing (1st, 2nd, 3rd, then drive) you'll find that 2nd gear will take you to 100KPH easily. This car has automatic overdrive so it will gear according to how you drive. Ecomonic mode is in the 4000s and sport changes at 6000. To change into sport mode easily there's an additional option after putting the accelerator all the way down there's another section to it. Wouldn't recommend doing this around town since I've spun the wheels at 40kph and the back end likes to drop a couple of inches. That should cover just about everything, i'd recommend reading your manual and hopefully you're putting 91-94 octane in this car. If you forget even once the car will moan for a couple hundred Ks and start knocking on the dash for help.
