Possible valve-body problem in the transmission. i am surprised to know that its possible in a brand new car, however i had the same problem in my 96 elantra, the rpm would rev once changing from 3rd to 4th gear in an auto transmission. I took it to MR TRANSMISSION an they told me they had to change or rebuild the whole transmission. I took it to another mechanic who specializes in transmission repair, an he told me it was the slip ring between each gears. SO the ring between the 3rd an 4th gear was worn out. Now i am not sure what the exact name of the part but it is also related an controlled via the O/D button on ur transmission. But it looks like a ring made of metal or some thing. To change it, they dint have to open the complete tranny, they just opened the bottom part an voila, it worked perfect as if new. COST DIFF WAS: 2800CDN for a rebuilt transmission, or just 600 CDN to replace that one ring.
