It may have lost oil pressure. Is the oil full? Insufficient oil is the most common but not the only cause of low oil pressure.
The thing that could cause a knocking noise in your car is the same thing that could cause it in all cars A rod that or a flat lifter. it all really depends on where the knock is if its higher and to the back of the motor, it could be a motor mount

Internal knocking inside the engine is almost always a sign of worn bearings. Crankshsft, or rod bearing would be my guess. The fix, if it is internal, is overhaul. Before opening it up, make sure the knocking is indeed coming from inside the engine.

I would check the suspension bushings, if one of them is worn it would cause a knocking noise.

owners manual say it could be normal,but carbon on pistons from my experience also cause knocking,when I remove carbon knocking stops,I have corolla with 1nze engine.
