brake light switch,located behind your brake pedal is most likely out of adjustment,locat this adjust it and if it still doesnt work,check your power there and your fuses,i had this happen to my 96

on the brake pedal under the dash is a brake light switch. that when you depress the brake it turns your lights on. you might wanna check that

yes they have brake lights and you probably have a bad brake light switch which is on top of the brake pedal under the dash.
