What could cause the ac to just quit blowing air hot or cold on a 99 VW beetle The ac was on and it just quit working. when you turn the knob 0-4 none of them work it doesn't blow any air?

Blown fuse for the motor, or the motor burned out and needs to be replaced.

I am working on my daughters but the first thing would be low on freon. Recharge it with a kit from AutoZone or similar store and ask them where the low side cap is. Read the directions on the can and just do it. If it takes freon, the can will get very cold and form frost.

I had the same problem with my 2000 Bug and it turned out to be battery issue. Because my car has been sitting in the parking lot for the winter battery was so weak that blower didn't work. And as soon as I replaced the battery it was working. That might help.

If it's blowing and you can tell the compressor is still kicking on when you turn the A/C on, the Coolant probably just needs to be recharged. Especially in a 9 year old car.
