During World War II, the main enemies of Great Britain (or, England) were Germany, Italy, and Japan. While a variety of smaller nations were at war with the British, it was these three "Axis" Powers who served as the greatest threat to, and engaged in the most conflict with, Great Britain.
Historically the position of Germany as major European state, and power, created frictions along its periphery with other powers. States that have had repetitive conflicts with Germany are France, Poland and Russia. Many of these selected country disputes served as the foundation to the modern conflicts of the past World Wars.
