The Prime Meridian goes through Greenwich, England, the site of the British Royal Observatory. In fact, at the Royal Observatory, the Prime Meridian is marked by a metal strip on the ground; you can straddle this strip with one foot in the Western Hemisphere and one in the eastern hemisphere.

Everything in North America and South America is to the west of the Prime Meridian. The Prime Meridian goes through England, France and Spain in Europe, and Portugal is entirely to the west. In Africa, the countries of Western Sahara, , Mali, Algeria, Burkina Faso, Ghana, Morocco, Mauritania, Gabon, Gambia, Guinea-Bissau, Senegal, Sierra Leon and Liberia are all or partly in the western hemisphere.
