Some people go to parades, others go to the park, others go to the beach, and still others go camping.
Some people go to the National Mall in Washington, DC. I like to stay home and watch the show on TV.
Almost every country has a national holiday to celebrate their independence.
Independence days are celebrations to commemorate the anniversary of a country either ceasing to be a colony separating from being part of Another Country. Hence they are restricted to ex-colonies and contries which used to be part of other contries.
For example the US, UAE, India, Malta and Grenada all have independence days to commemorate when they stopped being colonies of the UK (or Kingdom of Great Britain as it was known in 1776) but the UK has no Independence Day. Neither does Germany, France, China or Sweden (among many others)
The celebration of any particular independence day is usually restricted to the relevent country (e.g. Cuba's independence day is not celebrated in Kyrgyzstan or vice-versa.)
