The Strait of Gibraltar mostly encompasses the territorial waters of Spain, Morocco, and the United Kingdom.

The British claim for the strait is based on their administration of the territory of Gibraltar. The sovereignty of Gibraltar is disputed by Spain, however, thereby also placing the UK's claim to the strait under dispute.
