The two invaders met in the middle and split Poland between them, and extinguished Poland as an independent nation. Britain and France declared war on Germany over the German invasion of Poland, but nobody declared war on the Soviet Union when they did exactly the same thing a few weeks later. One massive war at a time, I guess.
