No it did not. However many countries in Europe have a dish which resembles Haggis in general terms. These were cheap peasant dishes of minced offal cooked in a casing usually of animal intestine.

Although haggis is traditionally a Scottish dish, it has been said that it was imported to Scotland before Scotland became it's own nation. It is believed that the dish can be traced back as far back as Ancient Roman times.

Scotland. It is Scotland's national dish. Traditional Haggis consists of a sheep's stomach stuffed with diced innards (pluck), onion, oatmeal, salt and spices and typically served with root vegetables, known as haggis with mashed tatties and neeps.

One theory claims a chieftain may have had an animal or two killed for a particular feast, the heart, liver and lungs being passed to the butchering servant as his payment for services rendered. Haggis was always a popular dish for the poor being cheap cuts of nourishing meat that would otherwise have been thrown away.

The is actually no reliable information on the origin of haggis; though most sources trace it to the borderlands of England and Scotland.

A similar recipie is eaten in France called Andouillette, which in turn is based on an Ancient Roman recipie.

Haggis a dish which has its origins in an impoverished peasant society where nothing,least of all meat protein, was wasted. Its ingredients sheep heart, lungs and liver were perishable and in richer societies might have been thrown away. Mixed with oatmeal and packed into the sheep's stomach and boiled it could be preserved for slightly longer although this was not the prime concern. The main idea was to render something cheap into an appetising and nutritious dish. It has been made in Scotland for centuries.
