What country was Germany trying to get at by going through belgium?
Belgium was used as a kind of shortcut to France's northern frontier.
There are a few reasons why France was afraid of Germany: 1.) Germany declared war on them. 2.) Gemany was VERY powerful. When trying to pass Belgium to get to France(a supposedly neutral country), they attacked Belgium and defeated them in a matter of days. In the end when the Central Powers collapsed(Germany, Austria-Hungary, Ottoman Empire, etc.), France wanted revenge on Germany along with a few other countries. Hope that helped you! :D
