Pakistan and India were the same country before 1947. The British government ruled the entire subcontinent and they left this place by dividing it on the basis of religion. The worst divide ever and it it created the worst mass killing ever with the fight between Hindu and Muslims. For reference read "Freedom at Midnight" by Dominique La Piere..french writer.
