Yes, the stock market crash did begin the great depression but it wasn't the only cause. The depression was also due to the tariffs/war debt policies, factories producing more than consumers demanded, farm sector crisis, easy credit, and unequal distribution of income. The stock market crash just tipped it all off.
The four causes of The Great Depression were: D- Distribution of Income (was unequal) E- Economy (Huge BOOM so there had to be a huge bust) E- Easy Credit (Anyone can buy on credit...no money was being circulated. All I Owe you's) M- Mechanization (Machines were taking over the jobs of people)A cause that started the Great Depression was the crash of stock markets.

Well we are not in a depression with Obama the only reason the economy is like this is because of our 43 president Bush So Roosevelts depression ended up worse because they were actually in a depression. You can thank Bush for the economic troubles
If the question refers to the US, about ten years, for most if not all of the 1930's. Even if the Stock Market Crash of 1929 could be universally agreed upon as the beginning of the Great Depression in America, its ending is even more difficult to tack down as recovery was very gradual. Some may choose to regard the attack on Pearl Harbor in 1941 as the official ending of the Great Depression in the US. The economy was already much improved by then, but it was vastly and immediately pumped up by the shift to wartime production.
The government set up camps during the Great Depression to help the unemployed.
no, Franklin D. Roosevelt stopped the Great Depression. I can see how you got the two mixed up
the world didn't blow up
