The answer is not what...but WHO. The sufferer of anxiety creates their own anxiety, through irrational thinking and irrational fears. Basically anxiety is your imagination on overtime and then your body reacts as if its having REAL FEAR (such as confronting a wild man eating tiger in the jungle-that would be REAL FEAR) which in the fraction of a second prepares your body to flight, flight or evade. These are the uncomfortable sensations your expereince during an anxiety attack. In a REAL FEAR situation the sensations would not last as you would be busy running away from the man eating tiger, or fighting it. With Imaginary fear, your body responds but has no outlet for the increased adreninine thus leading to the horribly uncomfortable symptoms of anxiety which can turn into a disorder.

People can be genetically predisposed to anxiety disorders, or have had some horrible trauma in their lifes that they did not move past, or even chronic stress and hormone imbalances can lead to anxiety. But it is the PERSON WITH it, who propogates its and feeds the anxiety monster with chronic "what if-ing" and imagination gone arwy.

Instantly Reduce Anxiety Anytime?

Deep breathing and meditation can effectively treat anxiety disorders. As anxiety begins to build, tension grips the muscles and restricts breathing. This subliminally creates a feeling of suffocation, which increases anxiety even more. When stress begins to overwhelm you, take several long, deep breaths. Relax the shoulders and straighten the posture. Practicing simple meditations, such as momentarily focusing the mind on a pleasant image, along with deep breathing, is proven to reduce anxiety as well or better than pharmaceuticals.
