The spinning Jenny brought factory work to society. Before factories when something was made it was made individually for a specific person, but the invention of factories meant that things could be made on a larger scale. Work hours, shift work, weekends were all created because of factories. The factories wanted to have people work 12-14 hours a day 7 days a week so they needed to have people work in shifts. Out of that came the ideas about having two days off a week, holidays off, and eventually overtime pay. The shift in society became production oriented and led to factory towns, unions, urbanization of America, and worker protection laws. The modern society we have today was built on the foundation of factory work and one reason there are problems today is there is a shift from people working in factories to people working in technology or service industries, but some people are still thinking in the old factory ways.
A positive impact is that the spinning jenny could make clothes faster and easier, by making multiple spools of yarn at a time. A negative impact is that spinning wheel makers were angry at the inventor, James Hargreaves, because they could go out of business if the spinning jenny became a common item. It is said that some of the makers of the spinning wheel sabotaged Hargreaves machines, and Hargreaves fled.
The spinning jenny was a multi-spindled machine. So is the spinning mule. :) (I found the information on this website. All I did was type spinning mule and spinning jenny :) )
James Hargreaves was involved with the invention of a carding machine which prepared fiber for spinning, and then he invented the Spinning Jenny used for simultaneously spinning the fiber into multiple spools of thread.
people made more money because the didn't have to pay as many workers..... :)
The spinning jenny produced yarn faster. The spinning jenny also made it easier to spin yarn. It took the place of people who had to spin the yarn.

Yes , the reason why the spinning jenny is called the spinning jenny is because in 1764 James Hargreaves had a daughter that was named jenny and she knocked over the family spinning wheel . and that gave James Hargreaves the name .
