410 AD and to the barbarian tribes. Rome was having problems all ready and the Empire had just grown too big and they were spending too much in men and money. When the barbarians came over the Alps into Italy that was the start of the fall of Rome. One of the major consequences of the fall of Rome is that the world it goverened was thrown into the "dark ages." Chaos reined, services were gone, and raids were going on towns through out the region. This would last a 1000 years.
