24 January 1989.

I have seen a photo of his corpse on the gurney after he was executed. Can you believe it, he died with a smile on his face. He never had any remorse for his killing, otherwise he would have told authorities exactly how many he had killed. The total number of his victims is speculation.

Bundy didn't really have a smile on his face. I saw that photo of him on a gurney after he died, it did look like a smile but was infact rigor mortis setting in. It is very common to see the dead with a 'smile on their lips.

Was Diderot's Encyclopedia used to attack capital punishment?

Diderot's Encyclopaedia was used to spread knowledge and true facts about science and nature. In the process he criticised religion and showed evidence of how religious scriptures are easily false. He is the founder of the Encyclopaedia, the large book of knowledge that we still use to this day. He campaigned for the abolishment of capital punishment because the French government at the time of his life was misusing the capital punishment system by executing innocent protesters. But his Encyclopaedia was not used as a weapon in his campaign.

What is Ted Bundy's motive for killing?

It is still unclear as to what 'makes' a serial killer. It is thought to be a combination of 'nature and nurture'. It is a complex problem with no easy solutions. Genetics and environment under the right circumstances can produce the likes of Ted Bundy. As a young child Bundy showed some very disturbing behavious that were a red flag for what was to come. This is true with most serial killers. Looking into their childhoods, there are similarities that cannot be easily dismissed as coincidence. Although there are many people that have less than perfect childhoods yet they become upstanding and law-abiding citizens. That is why serial murder is still mostly a mystery. With Ted Bundy in particular, he claimed his obession for pornography turned him into a killer. It does not seem surprising that he blamed an outside source, when the real problem was inside him. If any good can come of such a tragic life, Bundy as a research subject was valuable to bring understanding to his unique kind of killer.
