In August 1791, the king of Prussia and the emperor of Austria- who was Marie Antoinette's brother- issued the Declaration of Pilnitz. In this document, the two monarchs threatened to intervene to protect the French monarchy. The declaration may have been mostly bluff, but revolutionaries in France took the threat seriously and prepared for war. The revolution was about to enter a new, more radical phase of change and conflict.
In the year 1792, while the revolution in France was going on, Austria and Prussia had signed a declaration promising not to harm France's king Louis XVI. However, the people of France, who were against Louis were hostile toward their old Austrian enemies. They also despised Austria's king, Leopold II, Mary-Antoinette's brother and Holy Roman Emperor. The National Assembly declared war on Leopold which could easily have been avoided, and Fredrich William II, king of Prussia declared war on France, to help their ally.
1866 during the AUSTRO-PRUSSIAN WAR NEW RESPONDENT Prussia invaded Austria for the first time when Frederick the Great, King of Prussia started the invasion of Silesia on Dec.16,1740.

William II King of Prussia and Emperor of Germany
Frederick II was the King of Prussia and a member of the House of Hohenzollern. He started the three wars between Austria and Prussia known as the Silesian wars, by attempting to claim Silesia and declaring war on the ruler of Austria over it.
The Prusso-Austrian war of 1864 changed the power structure within the Germanic lands and hence in Europe overall. For much of European history, Austria was the dominant German power and all the german states, (prussia included) followed their lead. When Prussia defeated Austria, Austria pulled out of German affairs and focused on their empire in the south. Prussia (with Bismarck as PM) eventually unified Germany, first through the North German confederation and finally with the German Reich, where the Prussian king became German Emperor.

It may be possible that some junior member of the house of Hohenzollern fought in such a war, but no prince of Prussia who later became king of Prussia ever fought in a war with America. Only the emperor Wilhelm II was involved in a war against, among others, the US; but that was WW I and he was already king of Prussia and German emperor at the time.

William I of Prussia was crowned Emperor of Germany in the Hall of Mirrors of the Palace of Versailles.
