What decomposes the remains of a shark?
Nothing goes to waste on the ocean floor, The remains of any living organism are consummed by the other marine inhabitants. Crabs, Hagfish, worms all eat whatever falls to the ocean floor. Bacteria certainly does its job as well but never really has the chance to complete its work.

The remora or suckerfish eat the remains of food that the shark does not eat or the feces of the shark. This type of relationship is considered commensalism. Some specific species of the remora eat parasites off of the shark and bacteria living on it. In this case, the relationship becomes one of mutualism.
