The traditional route to becoming a public school music teacher involves completing a bachelor's degree from a teacher education program and then obtaining a license. However, most US States now offer alternative routes to licensure for those who have a college degree in other fields. In Australia, the rules are not quite so relaxed.
Private school music teachers in the USA do not have to be licensed but still need a bachelor's degree. In Australia, all teachers, regardless of their field, must have full registration, which requires criminal checks and so on.
To be a teacher in any field within a school requires training. In Australia, for example, a music teacher is still required to attain a Bachelor of Education which is a four year course, or a three-year degree majoring in Music with additional one to two year intensive teacher training after that.

If you're looking to teach privately, there are usually conservatories that offer exams (ie: Royal Conservatory of Music in Canada, the AMEB or Trinity College in Australia) and sometimes people teach without even having those. That will depend on the level of students your teaching, how much training you already have, and, honestly, a bit on the competition of teachers around you. Basically, you would have to get a college degree in Music Education. Many colleges offer these programs.
A music teacher needs to have graduated highschool, and colleege and must have a bachelor's degree. To be a preschool or private school teacher you may not need one, though. Hope this comes to use.
To teach within the public school system in the United States at the pre-K through high school levels, you must have a bachelor's degree in a teacher education program from a regionally accredited college or university and state teacher certification. This would take approximately four years as a full-time student, provided you take the program as prescribed by the college or university.

Jamorama is an online music teaching tool. One reason to not use Jamorama over a traditional music teacher is because you do not get the one-on-one help and education that you would with a traditional music teacher. Learning an instrument can be very challenging for some and having a traditional music teacher allows instruction based on what you need.
