there are many different paths towards astronomy, undergrad degrees in physics, math, astronomy, astrophysics, chemistry, geology, computer science etc. can all lead to astronomy. If you want to be a research astronomer you will need a Ph.D and possibly 1 or 2 post-docs. astronomers are not in high demand because there are so few positions so you need a lot of education to break into the field.
No, the IUCAA does not offer bachelors degrees.
At least a BS, an MS, and a PhD.
No.
Astronomy is not a 'school' subject. you would need to go to a university to specialise in astronomy.
None. You can start out in astronomy with a relatively small telescope, and no licenses are required.
The star is at an altitude of 15 degrees above the horizon at midnight.
You don't "need" any school for astronomy. However, if you want to be seriously considered for any jobs in the field, you should minimally get a bachelor's degree.
A BS in science (Physics/Math) is minimum, an MS in Astronomy or a PHd in Astronomy is even better.
astronomy was discovered by accident and there was a little need for it because some of the ancient people needed to have time
8° 4' would be read as "eight degrees, four minutes". The use of minutes and seconds as subdivisions of degrees is primarily found in astronomy and navigation.
It is not just Astronomy. Any scientific career will require lots of advanced math.
It just depends how the word is being used. In astronomy, Capella is the brightest star in the constellation Auriga. If in the educational area, Capella is a university which typically offers course work and degrees online. It just depends how the word is being used.
